anime review: Spirited Away

A Miyazaki film

Chihiro is a ten year old girl whose family has moved away from all she knows. On the way to their new home her father takes a “short cut” that ends up in front of a gate. Dad decides to explore and follows his nose toward a empty seeming market and chows down with mom like two pigs. As the sun sets they start to change into pigs for real…and the story takes off from there.

As always Miyazaki has woven a wonder tale of magic and mystery and morals. This movie is beautifully drawn and told wonderfully from the eyes of a young girl.

A movie for the entire family, even my two year old thinks this one is a keeper and has demanded to watch this many times.
